Photoshop: Beyond AutoWhile just about everyone has Photoshop or Photoshop Elements, not so many folks know how to pry loose all the power they paid for. In other words, they don't know how to go "Beyond Auto". In this workshop series, you will learn how to go "Beyond Auto" to tap into a universe of creative Photoshop power. Photoshop users of all levels will benefit from this workshop series. Photoshop: Beyond Auto will be offered in two parts that can be taken separately or together. |

| Part 1 - Ground School In Part 1, we lay the groundwork by explaining all the essential tools, menus, shortcuts and panels of Photoshop and basic operations such as opening, resizing, saving, cropping, levels and other common image adjustments. Part 1 is primarily intended for folks who are just getting starting with Photoshop and need a guide to navigating this imposing application. 6 hours, single session, |
Part 2 - Flying In Part 2, we get off the ground and into the air. You will learn about colour manipulation, selection tools, how to use layers, blending modes, transformations, adjustment layers, masks, painting, filters, retouching, channels and more. You'll learn new and better ways to fix photos, edit images and make composites. Students are invited to bring their own images as sample work pieces. | What Version Are You Using? Your instructor is an authorized Adobe partner. You will be learning with the latest software release, Photoshop CS4. However, the material will be equally applicable to earlier versions of Photoshop. For the Photoshop Elements edition workshops, Photoshop Elements 7 will be used. Do I Need To Bring My Computer? Yes, if you have a laptop with Photoshop installed, bring it along so you can work through the exercises. However, it isn't mandatory to have your own laptop. Your instructor will also be displaying all the work on a 40" high-definition monitor. |

Unfortunately, not so many folks are benefiting from all the power they paid for. In other words, they don't know how to go "Beyond Auto". Digital Cameras: Beyond Auto will explain all your camera features and functions, what they're for and how you can use them to go way "Beyond Auto". After this course, you will understand and know when and how to use the following for better photography:
Do I Need To Bring My Camera? Yes! This is a work-along course and you will be referring to and using your camera throughout the course. My Camera Is Not An SLR, Does That Matter? No! Even if you have a compact digital camera and want to learn about all of its features, this course is for you. 12 hours, 2 sessions, $120.00 per student |

Date/Times Classes are held on Saturdays from 9am to 4pm with a 1-hour break for lunch. Lunch is not provided, but there are many fine eateries in nearby Chemainus and Ladysmith. NOTE: Turning Point Arts is not a software dealer and the Photoshop / Photoshop Elements software is not supplied with the workshops. (address & map) About Your Instructor ![]() As a software developer, Brad Grigor worked in time-sharing, aerospace and process control and later was a pioneer in interactive online applications, such as stock trading, poker and auto insurance, before the Internet era. In photography, he cut his teeth shooting rock concerts in the '70s and Halley's comet in New Zealand in 1986. He has been using Photoshop since version 5 and uses Photoshop, Illustrator and Corel Painter to create his strange and allusive digital images. (more)
